Red Giant Loses a Family Member

EXPOSURE ARTIST - AL RIO - PASSES
Yesterday morning, I received the type of early morning call nobody likes to receive... Red Giant partner, and friend, David Campiti informed me that Al Rio had passed away.

Al Rio and David have a history together that spans almost two full decades.  David was not only his manager and co-creator on Exposure... he was Al's friend.  I watched as David scrambled to get his new house completed in time for Al's visit this past summer.  I'd seen the camaraderie between these two.  So I cannot even begin to fathom the loss of a friend like that.

Adding to the sadness is that Al took his own life suddenly.  There was no indication to this senseless tragedy.  Just days prior, he was giving lectures and interviews where he happily talked about upcoming projects... Exposure's resurgence being one of them.

The timing of this is eerie as well, since we JUST launched a Kickstarter campaign for Exposure Volume 1!  The goal with the campaign was to raise money to fund future work by Al himself on the project.  Now the goal for this campaign has shifted drastically.

David has graciously decided that all of the net profits from the Kickstarter campaign will go to Al's family.  He leaves behind a wife and three children.

Included in the campaign are some recent discoveries of Al Rio's original artwork from Exposure.  These are the last ones available, and were lost until they were found after David's recent move to his new home (as mentioned previously).  So this is a great chance to help out Al's family while getting a great book and even possibly snagging some original artwork at a great price.

We had a lot more announcements planned for this update, but in the face of this tragedy, they can wait.
Well I won't repeat too much of what's going to be said in the video, but please give it a quick watch.  You'll see and hear some really cool info.

So please watch the video below:

As stated in the Video (if you watched it all) we're continuing (now through December 25th at 11:59pm) a Christmas Sale.  You can help keep this project going and keep our guys paid while saving 20% on every book in our store (even the value-priced bundles!!!).  Simply use promo code: THANKS2011 to save.

Red Giant (that's us) is proud to present the awesome series, DROW TALES.  If you've never read Drow Tales before, you're in for a treat.  It's very similar in tone and aesthetics to Wayward Sons, and keeps a blistering update schedule as well.

And now we're going to be producing the printed books for them, as well as other duties!

Best of all, they're running a pre-order campaign that I know many of you will love to get in on.  In a similar fashion as we did with our pre-orders, they are selling cameos, hardcovers, softcovers, etc.  So this is your chance to join in another mythology on a personal level.

They need around $5000 to go to press, and are about 1/3 of the way there (as of this writing).  But they need your help to reach their goal, as they have less than 11 days to get there.  Let's show them what the Wayward Sons audience can do, and get them to their goal in record time.  I know you'll enjoy what you receive in return.
Drow Tales

BUZZBOY BUNDLES
Speaking of very awesome things to buy, I also want to let you guys know that we have BUZZBOY BUNDLES IN.  If you watched the video above, you'd see that John not only SIGNS, but draws a big sketch in every one of the books.

But not only can you save money on the Buzzboy Bundles (as per usual) they also work with our THANKS2011 promo code to save an additional 20% off!!!  And it's the only way to get the exclusive poster drawn by the dearly departed talent, Humberto Ramos!  This is a collectible you and your whole family can enjoy.

JOHN BUZZES HERMAZ AND HESTYA
And in case you missed it, to commemorate Buzzboy's addition to our stable of comics, John drew and wrote an hilarious guest comic this past sunday!  In it he skewers Hermaz, Hestya and Hurk (the three H's) in a piece that harkens back to Looney Toons and somehow made me start singing Britney Spears songs in my head (I forgive him for that though).

After you read it, be sure to head over to BUZZBOY and enjoy the all-ages fun of the Web's first Superhero Sidekick!

SUPERNOVAS POWERS REVEALING!

We're finally beginning to learn what our heroes' powers are (as they discover them as well).  The second issue is proving to be as insightful as it is delightful.  If you haven't read Issue #2 yet, head on over and catch up on all the action!  I'm really pleased with how everything is going, and Terry and Dong are doing a great job on this series.  It makes my job as editor/letterist an easy one.

This upcoming week, get ready to enjoy EXPOSURE - ALTERED LIVES!  This is the first brand new tale of our Exposure gals in over a decade, and will continue the series from here on out.  Catch up on recent pages and get ready for the return of the hottest paranormal investigators in the world!

TWO FREE WAYWARD SONS BOOKS ON COMIXOLOGY!

In case you missed the announcement, we have TWO free books on Comixology!  So feel free to download those and if you enjoy the format, you can pick up the rest of the series (up to Issue 11 as of this Wednesday) as well for less than $1 each!

A DAY FOR THANKS GIVING

Who would believe that this would be our SECOND Thanksgiving of doing Wayward Sons: Legends as a daily-updating full page comic?  And what a year we've had.  First off I am extremely thankful to all of you who have been our loyal readers.  Without you guys, none of this would have been possible.

We've had a pretty banner year.  As of today, we'll pass 30 MILLION pageviews, reaching over a million readers worldwide.  We've had readers in nearly every corner of the globe, and finally received not only our first, but second volumes of our books in print.  We're wrapping up the trilogy that takes our adventurers through the finale of the Egyptian Wars, and prepared to continue on for the long haul.  There are even some HUGE things in the works that I can't divulge that will literally blow you guys' minds!  (Let's just say some press releases will be forthcoming soon and leave it at that).

But we need your continued support.  Please watch the video below.

As stated in the Video (if you watched it all) we're running (now through November 27th at 11:59pm) a Thanksgiving sale.  You can help keep this project going and keep our guys paid while saving 20% on every book in our store (even the value-priced bundles!!!).  Simply use promo code: THANKS2011 to save.

DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND:  WE'RE EXTENDING THE SALE TO "CYBER WEEK" - So it won't end now until DECEMBER 4th at 11:59PM!
Facebook Fanpage

We have a SMALL number of Christmas Card sets available again this year!

Normally these 10 packs sell for $10 each, but for this Thanksgiving Sale (see above) we're going to increase your orders by 50% AND lower the price 20% as well!

No promo code needed.  Simply click on the link and add as many 10-packs to your cart, and you'll receive 15 cards for $8!  That makes it nearly half the price of usual!

And if you combine the cards with a book order above, it won't add any weight to your order, so it will (in essence) SHIP FREE with other purchases!

You can't beat that deal with a stick (but it might be fun to try).

BUZZBOY LANDS AT RED GIANT
Something not many of you may know about me, is that starting waaaay back around 1995, I worked for Marvel on their AOL comics.  This made me one of the first "Internet" comics guys out there.  That and $4 will buy me a cup of coffee at Starbucks, but it did put me in a position to meet a lot of great people.  Two such guys were Steve Conley and John Gallagher, who years later were pioneering "Web syndicated comics" on something they dubbed Tooncasting.  I quickly joined them, and launched my Wayward Sons comic in that format...

Unfortunately, life happens, and eventually all of us moved on.  The Internet back then wasn't set up to support artists in that way, and we never really made money at it.  Still, I respected those guys greatly.  Flash forward to a year and a half ago when I was going to relaunch Wayward Sons.  I reconnected with John on another site, and us old timers got to talking.  I told him what I was up to, and he said to keep him apprised on how this worked, because he'd love to get back into doing Buzzboy.

So a year later, when we reconnected, he decided to sign on board with us at Red Giant, and we began getting his comic and site ready to launch for the triumphant return to the internet of BUZZBOY!  Buzzboy is an awesome all-ages comic.  It's the kind of book that adults can enjoy on one level, and kids will enjoy on a different one... much the same way as the old Looney Tunes cartoons were.  I cannot sing its praises enough, so be sure to check it out!

LYMAN MUSCLES IN ON S'KET!
We were blessed a couple weeks ago by the work of a fantastic artist, in yet another guest page written by me (so it's canon).  It's drawn by the VERY talented Lyman Dally who is the creator behind a Sci Fi webcomic called "Steroids n Asteroids with Quadra Blue" you can read here: http://quadra-blu.com/2011/05/...

Fair warning this is NSFW and simultaneously one of the most disturbing and well-done webcomics I've ever seen.  It's a Sci-Fi comic starring a strangely sexy body-building alien woman that has to be seen to be believed.  You can also find out more on his Facebook page here:  https://www.facebook.com/pages...

SUPERNOVAS SECOND ISSUE!

It's hard to believe that Supernovas is already completing it's second issue soon!  This book has been a real treat to work on with the writer and artists.  I love Superheroes (obviously) and the "real world" approach to these teens getting super powers is a lot of fun, without diving a lot of the dark and morose subject matter that plagues so many of the the books on the stands today.  Still, it's a unique twist on popular archetypes and I highly recommend it (but I'm also highly biased).

Get caught up on the "story-so-far" and discover some awesome never-before-seen behind-the-scenes stuff from the wonderful world of Exposure.

Then starting in December, the book will be launching again with ALL NEW MATERIAL!!!  That's right, all new stories of your favorite scantily clad heroes who have as much trouble with battling the supernatural, as they do keeping their clothes on!

WAYWARD SONS INVADES COMIXOLOGY!

Wayward Sons has finally done it.  We've invaded Comixology.  Issues #1 - 10 and the HOLIDAY SPECIAL are all available online, on your iOS devices and Android powered devices!  WE'RE MOBILE BABY.  And it's cool.  I have purchased all of them (yes, I even have to pay for them... I don't get them free) and did so gladly for two reasons.

First, two of the issues are FREE and the rest are only $0.99, so they're CHEAP!  And second, it's just a REALLY awesome way to re-experience the books.  I admit I was a skeptic, but I'm really into this.  I don't think it will replace the daily online, or even the printed versions... but it's a whole 'nother experience.

I need everyone to do me a favor... Since you can literally enjoy these on your computer, even if you don't have a mobile device, or intend to buy them... at least download the two FREE comics and give me a high rating!  It costs you nothing but a few minutes and will really help me out a lot!  THANKS!
First off, please excuse how UGLY this post is going to look.  I haven't been able to do it in awhile, because Livejournal "upgraded" their interface and basically broke most of their features.  They've been "fixing" it for nearly a month.

Regardless... first up...

BOOKS ARE IN AND STORE IS OPEN!

I literally JUST unloaded 5000 lbs worth of books yesterday from a truck into my garage.  A lot of you pre-ordered and those will be going out soon.  But if you didn't receive your email yet with some special offers on Volume 2... PLEASE check your spam folder.  ALSO please confirm your address hasnt changed in an email to me.  If you didn't receive your email... then contact me at redgiantcomics@aol.com

But please note this isn't just WAYWARD SONS Volume 1... it's also VOLUME 2!!!

That's right, you can get the first two volumes all at once (172 pages of full color EACH).  And if you didn't preorder, you can head over to our store at https://redgiant.myshopify.com/ and take advantage of offer code:  DISCOUNTSHIPPING
in your checkout to get... well Free (USA) or Discount (International) shipping on your order for both Volume one and Two!

AND I even have signed and numbered, hardcover, limited editions available.  These are signed and numbered by the entire creative team, and won't be available in stores.

AND SPEAKING OF STORES

Also of note, especially for those who like to order from their local retailers... AND those who are international...

We're in the CURRENT ISSUE OF DIAMOND COMICS PREVIEWS.  So be sure to do me a huge favor (even if you ordered from me) and convince your local retailer to order a couple copies of Volume 1.  It will be available in comic shops starting November!

I would REALLY appreciate your help in this.  Also available for them is the JAPAN NEEDS HEROES book, so have them order some of them as well!

GUEST PAGES

Because of the technical issues I was also unable to tell you guys about two of our guest pin-ups you may or may not have seen.

First was a page by Brian "CAYEN" Simpson of Tides of Change, a webcomic you can read starting here!   Cayen is growing artistically as is this fantasy tale.  So be sure to check it out and support his work.

Second was a second piece by Jazyl Homavazir who graced us with another guest page.  He fell in love with one of the Tytans from Issue #12 (the only one who killed an Ulympean) and was inspired to draw this piece.  I love it and hope you do too. Jazyl is the creator behind http://thebeastlegion.com which is a Webcomic in a similar vein to Thundercats or He-Man.

SUPERNOVAS #1 IS COMING TO A CLOSE

It seems like we JUST launched Supernovas.  And already issue 1 is wrapping up beautifully.  I think the entire creative team is doing a great job, and it's proven to be quite popular.  We are even talking about taking it up to 3x a week updating schedule.  If it gets enough support, we may even make it another daily!  So please help spread the word, and check it out if you haven't already.  The more readers we get, the more we can update!!!

AND SPEAKING OF DAILIES -- EXPOSURE

We've been having a little bit of technical gremlins, but Exposure is fast approaching the end of the "reprint" material for the fans who remember it from years past.  Which means, we're moving into a new phase of all new material!  If you want to see new stuff continue at a DAILY pace, however, I need your help.  Please spread the word on this book as well and be sure to read.  The best currency of all are your eyeballs and word of mouth.  So your help is greatly appreciated!!!

Sorry no pics in this update.  Hopefully Livejournal will get their act together soon.  Until next time, kemosabes!

I SURVIVED SAN DIEGO 2011...

WOW... I made it.  I survived yet another crazy (yet wonderful) San Diego Comic-Con!

This was the culmination of about 4 weeks of near-sleepless nights of preparation.  Part of that time, being spent by the crew in working AHEAD so that we would actually be able to take the week off but still have updates for you guys (are we dedicated or what?)  I'm not kidding when I say I averaged 3 or 4 hours max sleep every day for four weeks, either.

Then the actual show was longer days and even longer nights.  But it was all worth it.  It was great connecting with so many readers (I'm loathe to say fans, tho many described themselves as such).  I truly enjoyed meeting each and every one of you.  I was also happy to have added more than a few new readers as well.

The Keenspot panel went fairly well, although I find those events to be embarrassing, personally.  But we did reveal quite a lot, and we had a full podium and room. I even gave out some of the last convention comics to attendees as well as convention comics of our new series SUPERNOVAS.

Some of you may have even watched our live stream, which we were told was the most popular uStream that week.  That's cool, and I hope it wasn't too boring for you guys!  But back to bidness.

LAST DAYS FOR JAPAN NEEDS HEROES!
Down to the last few days of Japan Needs heroes.

Featuring a painted cover by Brando is also going to be the inspiration for the T-Shirts we'll be producing.  Current design is the Red Circle on the front and, "I AM A HERO" on the back.

There's only a few days left on this in Kickstarter, or you'll have to wait until November when the book will be in comic stores to order it (IF your local comic shop will even carry it!)  And remember an EXCLUSIVE 4-page Wayward Sons story is in this thing (in continuity!!!) is here.

We're waiting on just a few more of the big names to turn in their stuff, but this is gonna be GOOD!

SUPPORT OMPHALOS FOR COMIC

So, our wonderful producing partners over at Red Giant Media have this cool indy "Sci Fi Thriller" they're working on called, "Omphalos."  I've been hearing about this for months, because the goal has been to also have us produce a Webcomic/comic book series for it as well.  It's a neat concept centering around a detective who shows up to the scene of a murder... and the victim is him.  That's just the beginning of the weird events that transpire.

They're doing a Kickstarter campaign, and they've almost met their minimum already.  However, the more they raise, the more budget they'll also have to produce the comic... for you guys to enjoy.  So, if you'd like to put me to work and get more comics, then here's your chance to make that happen AND help get a pretty cool movie made.

WAYWARD SONS GETS BEASTLY!

Jazyl Homavazir, is the creator behind The Beast Legion which is a MANGA-inspired full page Webcomic in a similar vein to Thundercats or He-Man.  He supplied this past Sunday's very funny GUEST comic.  So if you enjoy 80's style stories as much as I do, you'll enjoy his work.  So I encourage everyone to check it out.

SUPERNOVAS IS SUPER COOL!

If you haven't checked it out yet, the first issue continues for Supernovas, our very first "Superhero" comic.  This series is edited and lettered by yours truly, and written by Hollywood writer/reporter, Terry Keefe!  There are several weeks already in the hopper on this and the action is underway this week!  You can say you saw it here, first!

EXPOSURE CONTINUES DAILY!

Due to a brief technical hiccup while we were away at SDCC, this didn't update as it was supposed to.  That's now fixed, so get your EXPOSURE FIX.

Now's a great time to go check out this series with now SIX MONTHS worth of daily sexy comics for you to enjoy!

SECOND ISSUE CONCLUDES!

Shockwave, Darkside (the OTHER book I edit and letter) comes to the shocking conclusion to Issue #2.  I cannot stress strongly enough how great I think that this second issue was.  Both the art and the story are flawless looks into humanity, love, betrayal, sex, lies, religion and war.  The series is set in the future, where the last survivors of humanity must eek out a a living on the surface of the moon, and two warring factions fight over the dwindling resources... divided by their beliefs.  It's a great series, check it out!
2011 SAN DIEGO COMIC CON IS HERE!

I am on the way to SAN DIEGO COMIC CON as previously advertised and will be living (small exaggeration) at booth Keenspot Booth #1231 the entire time. You can't miss us, as we'll have a 30' x 10' booth display this year, featuring Wayward Sons at the center!

I will have a SMALL quantity of both volume 1 and 2 Wayward Sons, the last remaining T-Shirts, and other merchandise for you to consume.  But MOST important of all, is to come by and say, "Hello!" (P.S. those looking to score brownie points can bring me Star Bucks Mocha or Cappucino flavored bottled drinks.  I am addicted!  Hey... if Ryan Sohmer can pander for Red Bull... why can't I beg for my vice?)

We will ALSO be broadcasting from the show for those who can't make it (stay tuned for info on that to Keenspot or right here as soon as I find out the URL).  AND for those who can make it... I'm throwing down the challenge.  Show up wearing a Wayward Sons character costume, and you'll get a free Tradepaperback!  Otherwise, continue to follow us on Facebook, etc.

Furthermore... I'll be on the Keenspot panel where you can ask questions and overall embarrass or harass me.  The panel is at on SUNDAY, July 24th, at 3:00PM in Room 4.  Everyone who attends will receive some free goodies!  So definitely come to heckle, I mean, show your support.

Seriously though, I hope you all either show up, tune in, or otherwise drop us a note via Facebook, Twitter, etc.

...JAPAN NEEDS HEROES GETS COVERED.
Well we finally have a cover by BRANDON "Brando" PETERSON no less!

This painted cover by Brando is also going to be the inspiration for the T-Shirts we'll be producing.  Current design is the Red Circle on the front and, "I AM A HERO" on the back.

WAYWARD SONS VOLUME 2 REVEALED

Well... half of the cover anyway.  I've been teasing people on the FACEBOOK page with this info (see why you should join the Facebook page?) for awhile, but we can now reveal HALF of the Genzoman cover to Wayward Sons: Volume 2.  This sucker is part of a wrap-around cover, and the OTHER half we will reveal next Sunday.  It's awesome.

And for those wondering, YES Volume 2 is printed and on its merry way.  More on how to order soon!

GUEST PAGE BY CHENGXIN!

I totally neglected to announce this last week, but we had a guest page by CHENGXIN last weekend that shocked more than a few people.  Yes, it was official canon what happened, and it happened right when it did.  So if you missed it, be sure to check it out.  Chengxin is one of the many artists we're grooming for possible new Red Giant Entertainment comics.  We will often have new art teams work on Wayward Sons guest pages to see how they deal with storytelling.  We have high hopes for Chengxin, so stay tuned for future updates on this talented artist.

SUPERNOVAS - NEW SERIES!

And to drive home what I just said, you may recall the art team who supplied a guest page at the beginning of the year with Hurk and Ethaynia.  They are now working on the twice-weekly updating new SUPERHERO comic from Red Giant Entertainment, SUPERNOVAS!  This series is edited and lettered by yours truly, and written by Hollywood writer/reporter, Terry Keefe!  Check it out, We're even giving you a jumpstart with several weeks worth of content before we announced it here!

EXPOSURE CONTINUES DAILY!

I know it's been awhile since I updated this page, but the updates for Exposure keep on coming!  The artwork in this (purposely) campy and sexy series continues to get more and more amazing!  And David Campiti (series co-creator and scribe) will be at SDCC as well with me at the Keenspot booth.  So now's a great time to go check out this series with now SIX MONTHS worth of daily comics for you to enjoy!

First Year Anniversary

ANOTHER YEAR ANOTHER SDCC!

WOW... can you guys believe it's been over a year now since we launched this crazy train?  I swear I thought the nice people with the white coats that button in the back would have caught us by now.

But YOU can catch us this year at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, the largest group of insane people on the planet assembled in one place...  And I'll be there at the brand new, bigger, better, Keenspot booth with lots of goody goodness to share with those of you who will be able to attend.

But we'll discuss more on that in future updates.  For now, what I want to find out is HOW many of you guys think you might be in attendance?  Let me know through TWITTER, or FACEBOOK, or FORMSPRING, or the DISQUS pages, or LIVEJOURNAL, or E-MAIL, or... carrier pigeon.  However you choose to correspond, at least we have a way.  The more of you who let me know, the better idea I'll have for some cool stuff to bring and how much to take with me... so it'll only help you score some cool swag if you do.

...JAPAN NEEDS HEROES PART DUEX.
What a month!  As you may have noticed, I've been unable (not technically lazy, but you can call me that if you want) to update the Livejournal in awhile.  But during the past month a LOT has been going on.  So much, in fact, I didn't get a chance to TELL you guys.

First off, with our first kickstarter campaign, we managed to raise nearly $18,000 for the victims of the tragedies in Japan in a little over a month!  But the response was so immense, and the book has gotten so big with talent (such as STAN LEE, Brandon Peterson, Peter David, Mike Deodato, Jimmy Palmiotti, Larry Hama and much more) that we just HAD to extend a second phase!  Now we've added even more tiers, and the list of talent STILL isn't complete.

So if you're a creator, join in.  The deadline is extended into the middle of June!  If you're a fan, go bug your favorite creators and DEMAND they join this book.  I think with your help, we could reach our overall goal of a total of $100,000!

THE SPECIALISTS GO TO HAYDEZ!

Well folks, nagging sometimes pays off.  I've been asking the folks over at The Specialists to do a guest page for the past six months or so.  Well they finally caved to the pressure and did one... featuring Haydez in all of his epic glory!  I was literally blown away.  And if you take a dive through the archive of their WWII Superhero webcomic, I think you will be as well.  But not until after you see the very cool pin-up they did this past Sunday!

EXPOSURE ISSUE #4 FINISHING UP!

In the midst of running around, I neglected to announce Issue #4 of everyone's favorite scantily-clad investigators, EXPOSURE.  The girls investigate a monster that forces them to reflect on things in their own lives...

Start reading this title, featuring the titillating artwork of comic veteran, AL RIO updating every Monday through Friday (with a bonus on Sunday).  Each issue deals with a different "secret menace" to the modern world, and it's a sexy mix of X-Files and Charlie's Angels.  So head on over and give it a read!

SECOND ISSUE AND A NEW DIRECTION!

We're proud to announce that Shockwave Darkside is well into its second issue now, with a new art team, and a new direction.  This issue jumps in long after the events in Issue #1 and we get a glimpse of the events leading up to the movie!

Shockwave Darkside is the webcomic book prequel to the upcoming shot-in-3D feature film by the same name. Like its counterpart it is presented in 2D and anaglyphic 3D as well. It's a science fiction comic set in the future and follows the last great war of mankind... set on the surface of the moon. Two warring factions, the "godless" Unlight and the religious "Banished" as they battle each other for the dwindling resources they both desire, orbiting a dead earth.

So much to do, so much to see

It's a science fiction comic set in the future and follows the last great war of mankind... set on the surface of the moon. Two warring factions, the "godless" Unlight and the religious "Banished" as they battle each other for the dwindling resources they both desire, orbiting a dead earth.

JAPAN NEEDS HEROES

...And We Are Them.
You most likely aren't aware of this, but my wife is Japanese... from the island/town of Tokushima.  That's where her parents are.  The bulk of her friends and extended relatives are in the Osaka region as well as Tokushima, all of which is in the south of Japan.  This is where my children spend their summers to keep them close to their dual heritage.  My kids even have a dual citizenship because we wanted them to have the choice when they're older.  In short, the recent events in Japan hit really close to home.

And while, for now, the earthquakes, tsunami and radiation aren't directly impacting my in-laws and friends over there... they will be greatly impacted by these events for generations.  That region is one of the food producing regions for the country (something the media people haven't figured out yet.  So make no mistake, this is going to be a problem for every citizen.  Still... we're counting our blessings and happy that everyone is safe.

But it is still very present on our minds.  So as we sat, watching Japanese TV to keep ahead of the news, my mind was racing to figure out, "What can I do to help?"  Then it hit me.  We can put together a benefit comic!  Thus JAPAN NEEDS HEROES was born.  I began contacting (a process still going on) all of my comics contacts (both on and offline) and am rapidly assembling a massive team to put this thing together.  We launched last night the Kickstarter campaign (which you see to the right of this message) and I'm working non-stop.  But we've a long way to go and I NEED YOUR HELP.

What can you do?

Well obviously, monetarily you can participate for as little as $1 in the efforts... and for that I thank you.

But above and beyond that we need creators to be involved.  And that's my priority as of right now.  So I strongly urge you all to take to your tweets, your emails, your social networks, etc. to plead, cajole and outright beg the creators of your favorite print and web comics to take part in this effort.  Send them to JapanNeedsHeroes.com and don't take "No for an answer."

If you're a creator, I understand that you're busy.  So are we.  We publish 6 pages a week of comics and 8 pages of content.  But we can go without sleep and MAKE time for this.  It's important.  What are a few missed hours of sleep compared with helping get money to the victims affected by SO MANY tragedies all at once?  We have no right to complain.  This is perhaps the most important work that many of us will ever be a part of.

I need moderators.  With everything going on with the Japan stuff, I just need someone to wrangle this stuff.  I will keep popping in but I know we have some talented storytellers in our midst.  So please contact me via Facebook or via email (the link at the bottom of the site marked BENNY POWELL is my email address) to discuss.  Thanks.

EXPOSURE ISSUE #3 BEGINS!

Issue #3 is here, and in the girls investigate a monster that forces them to reflect on things in their own lives...

THE LAST PAGES OF ISSUE 1!

I know many people wait until there's a full ISSUE of a series at least before diving in.  Well now's the time.  Start at the beginning and catch the entire issue.  Drawn by the same art team as Wayward Sons!

Updates and stuff...

QUICK WORD ON ADS

I wanted to give everyone a quick "State of the Union" on the comic, where we are, and some things you can all do to help.  First off, traffic-wise we're doing really well.  We're closing in on 3 million visits and 14 million views, which is amazing for a 9 month old comic.  Of COURSE we could ALWAYS use your help in spreading the word, and many of you are.  For that you have our thanks.

But I've noticed that as we gain more and more new readers that there's a large disparity between our TRAFFIC and our ad serves.  We make money primarily from advertising.  Now, what we're finding out is that apparently, a large number of readers are using ad-blocking software when reading our comic.  This is greatly impacting our revenue.

I can understand the desire to block ads.  I run the software myself on Firefox, because I've been hit MANY times with viruses from ads on non-trusted sites.  BUT, because I'm also a Webcomics reader and know how these things work, I alway set them to DISABLE my ad-blocking software on Webcomics.  That way the comics I read can make some money from my visit.  It's my way of helping support them.

Now, I'm not demanding you guys do this.  I'm not going to take technical steps to force you to, either.  I am just going to make you aware of this and let you do as your conscience dictates.  If you think the work we and other Webcomics creators do has value to you, then please do click DISABLE on our sites.  It's usually a one-time setting.  I apologize if this slightly delays load times, but you will notice that I set our comics and navigation to load FIRST.  So it shouldn't impact your ability to read and enjoy the comic.  Thank you for your continued

And BOY did you guys respond!  The DISCUSSION boards are live with activity WAY beyond what I anticipated.  Unfortunately my ability to post has been hampered by my local cable modem provider having a glitch that's giving Facebook fits on certain areas.

Which leads me to a thought.  I'm considering opening up moderator rights to some people who prove they have what it takes to roleplay characters in our universe well.  I will determine these based on discussions with those of you interested in taking on a character and helping run things in case I am ever absent due to technical issues or (for instance) like if I happen to be out at conventions.  So let's discuss and I hope you continue joining and enjoying the areas.  It has been awesome.

LAST WEEK FOR NEW WALLPAPER AT TOPWEBCOMICS

Okay, this falls under the "Better late than never" category.  One of the very first images (and possibly most-often requested) we have asked for as a Wallpaper is our FIRST ISSUE group shot from the last page.  And so I'm finally (for a limited time) using this as a new Wallpaper for a vote incentive over at TopWebcomics.  So now you can stop nagging me (if you hurry up and vote).  Be sure to download it before it's gone THIS WEEK.

HOT GUEST PAGE BY RUSS PLATT

EASILY the hottest guest pin-up yet by Russell Platt graced our pages this past Sunday.  I've been advertising on his site for some time, because it's simply THAT good.  I'm a big fan of his work, so after you check out his own sizzling work featuring one of our fan-favorite characters, you'll likely become a fan yourself.

For more of his sketches he updates daily... go over to his site at RussellPlatt-Art.com and browse through his selection of very sexy women and other comics work.

EXPOSURE GIRLS FIGHT A CLOTHES RIPPING GHOST!

Issue #2 is here, and in their search for a new office for their new company, they encounter a poltergeist intent on ripping off their clothes.  Seriously.

You HAVE to start reading this title, featuring the titillating artwork of comic veteran, AL RIO updating every Monday through Friday (with a bonus on Sunday).  Each issue deals with a different "secret menace" to the modern world, and it's a sexy mix of X-Files and Charlie's Angels.  So head on over and give it a read!

THOSE DARN JETPACK UNLIGHTS STRIKE AGAIN!

Now's a good time to jump into the action of Shockwave Darkside.  We're wrapping up this issue with more adventure, explosions and Sci-Fi goody goodness than you can imagine!!!
